Jøtul recommends the use of a magnetic stove-top thermometer to monitor the surface temperature of the stove. The optimum surface temperature range for the most efficient, clean burn is between 400° and 600°.

Fantastic product
This stove top thermometer is much more responsive than the cheap box-store I was using. The dial movement is responsive, whereas the cheaper one I had been using was "jerky". Very happy with the service and performance of the gauge to compliment my Jotul insert.

Perfect Jotul Stove Accessory
I received the Jotul stove top thermometer and am quite pleased. It's small size fits well on my f-100 Nordic QT stove. The magnet keeps it securely in place and it's reflected accurate stove top temperatures to date.
