Hearthstone Phoenix Rear Heat Shield
Phoenix Rear Heat Shield
1 Top Bracket
2 Bottom Clips (L-Shaped)
Identify the parts: In addition to the shield, you will have three other pieces. The larger piece is the top bracket with two j-shaped clips extending out from it. The other two pieces are the bottom clips. These are solid and L-shaped clips. To properly orient the heat shield, the top of the heat shield has a cutout for the flue collar.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Work on a cold stove. Install the initial section of pipe to the flue collar on the stove before installing the shield. Use the appropriate adapter for double wall pipe.
1) On the back of the stove locate the two hex head bolts in the bottom of the flue collar. Remove these bolts with the 3/8" wrench. Retain the bolts for the installation of the shield.
2) Place the top bracket over the holes in the bottom of flue collar (with the J-bends facing up and out toward you) and replace the bolts to hold the bracket in place.
3) Insert the bottom clips down into the slots on the bottom of the heat shield. The short end goes into the heat shield slots. The long end will rest on the back of the stove. NOTE: It may be necessary to gently pry the heat shield slots open (from the inner side of heat shield so any scratches will not be evident after shield is installed) with the slotted screwdriver to accommodate the clips and/or top bracket.
4) Position the shield so that the top slots will fit over the top clips now in place on the stove.
